What local citations are

A local citation is any online mention of your business name, address and phone number (NAP), such as a listing on Yellow Pages, Justdial, Bing Places, Apple Business Connect, Yelp or an industry directory. Search engines and AI assistants use these listings to confirm that your business is real, where it is and what it does. When your details are correct and consistent everywhere, they can describe and show your business with more confidence.

Who this service is for

Citation work is most useful for businesses that serve customers in a specific area: trades and home services, clinics, salons, shops and showrooms, restaurants, schools and coaching institutes, professional firms and multi-location brands. It is especially important if you have moved, changed phone numbers or rebranded, because old listings with wrong details often stay online for years.

What we do

We start with an audit, not a bulk submission. We search for your existing listings, record what is right and wrong, and fix those first. Then we build new citations on the main directories for your country and the industry and local sites that are relevant to you. We work on directories in Australia, India, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada and New Zealand, among others.

We prefer fewer accurate, relevant listings over hundreds of low-quality ones. Bulk submissions to spammy sites rarely help and can be hard to undo.

Results to expect

Citations are one part of local SEO, not a shortcut to the top of Google Maps. Clean, consistent listings support your Google Business Profile and website, help customers who search on directories, and reduce the chance of people finding an old address or number. New listings can take several weeks to be published and indexed, and some directories update slowly. We report what was done so you can see every listing for yourself.

Frequently asked questions

What is a local citation?
A local citation is any online mention of your business name, address and phone number, usually on a directory, map app, social profile or industry website. Consistent citations help search engines and AI tools trust your business details.
How many citations will you build?
It depends on your country, industry and how many accurate listings you already have. We agree the number and the list of directories with you before starting, and quote by number of citations.
Do you fix existing wrong or duplicate listings?
Yes. Clean-up comes first. We correct listings we can claim or edit and request removal or merging of duplicates. Some directories respond slowly, so a few fixes can take several weeks.
Will citations get my business to the top of Google Maps?
No one can promise that. Citations support your local SEO alongside your Google Business Profile, reviews and website. They help most when your current listings are inconsistent or missing.
Do you use paid or bulk submission sites?
We focus on trusted free and freemium directories that are relevant to your business. We will tell you if a paid listing seems worthwhile, and we do not use bulk submissions to low-quality sites.
Who owns the listings you create?
You do. Wherever possible, listings are created under your business email, and we hand over all login details in the final report.
